Major Events
As the RP progresses, multiple events will greatly effect the environment. These events could be due to naval battles between characters, environmental damages, biological influences, or political movements by militaries. Some events will be implemented by the moderator to keep the setting fun and interesting; a few events might follow the historical accuracy of this time. Remember, though our year is 1710, we do not play strictly to that year just the century. All of the events are organized chronologically with the most recent at the top.
Essentially these events would be heard around the Caribbean via word-of-mouth or by local papers. So, your character can know of the events without having been involved but remember to gloss over some of the details or substitute your own. The names of those involved are mentioned so that we, as players, know who was involved but in character these name wouldn't be mentioned unless they are part of the Rumor Mill. You know how the game of telephone goes, right?
(If I have missed an event, please inform me of the details and time of occurrence and it may be added.)

Assault on Port Royal; Spanish Captain Escapes! (August 1710)
Battle of Tortuga (August 1710)
The Capture of a Spanish Captain (August 1710)
Players: Aoibheann, Konrad, Pirates! (NPCs), Priscila
Taking the risk, the wanted Spaniard Commodore, Priscila Mingo, decided to pay a visit to Port Royal. During her visit, she was confronted by a bounty hunter with a contract for her head. Konrad was appointed the job of hunting down the famed Spaniard captain that captured Tortuga by none other than Blackbeard. Unfortunately, the Royal Navy hindered Konrad's efforts and Priscila broke into a sprint in an attempt to escape. The chase sparked the attention of Lieutenant Commander Aoibheann, who assisted the pursuit. Cornered in a small establishment, the Spaniard attempted to take her own life but was thwarted by Aoibheann. Now, Priscila is captive in Bridewell Prison undergoing interrogation by the newly promoted Captain Parry. The identity of this captive is certain to a small number of military personnel - per Aoibheann's experience with Priscila - but not to the public, it is merely rumored.

Recovery in Matthew Town (July 1710)
Blockade of Port Haven, Tortuga (June 1710)
Pirates Take Over Nassau (June 1710)
Naval Battles in the Bahamas (May 1710)
Having dispatched a portion of his ships to the Bahamas, Commodore Kieron quickly met his new rival, Captain Mingo in Matthew Town. The Spaniard had attacked the small port and seemed to be holding the small port down rather well. Matthew Town is often the first stop for naval vessel heading toward the Bahamas from Port Royal, having it taken by a Spaniard was rather personal. The Spaniard had raided the military supplies and any cargo of value by the time her presence was noticed by the Royal Navy. A battle ensued between the rival navies but in the end it did not favor Kieron. He lost six vessels and five were heavily damaged; Mingo lost four vessels and eight of hers were heavily damaged. To Kieron's surprise, the Spaniard had done well to fend against his Greek Fire technique and the loss of ships cause him to turn away from the assault and sail away before any further losses. The heavily damaged vessels were sent off to Jamaica for repairs, along with a report about the state of Matthew Town, while the rest remained in the area. While moving around the Bahamas for the next week he encountered several pirates. A handful of ships had been captured and all the pirates branded and charged; a few were hung while others were pushed into the Royal Navy to make up for recent losses. The vessels captured were sent off to be repaired before being added to his fleet, meanwhile he continued to move around the string of islands and survey the situation. Meanwhile, Mingo had left Matthew Town days before a second wave of British ships sailed forth prepared to battle over the small port only to find it destroyed and the town burned.

Politics in the Caribbean (April 1710)
After sailing from Tortuga, the Dutch Ambassador, Reinier Otten, contacted the British in Port Royal stating that he held information of Spanish naval plans and would share them for a price. Governor Spencer has turned the matter over to Master and Commander Parry as Commodore Kieron has sailed for the Bahamas with a portion of his fleet to confront the increased pirate activity. Commander Parry conversed with Otten through letters and the two have agreed to meet to discuss the exchange. Meanwhile, Governor Spencer had officially closed down Commander Parry's attempt at erecting another fort for Port Royal and focused his attention on repairing Fort Walker. French Ambassador Hercule Bisset continues to reside on Tortuga continuing to draw up plans for the city while soldiers of La Royale deal with the revolting pirate population. The twenty foot wall that surrounds the city is under reconstruction, two forts are being built on each side of the harbor and Bisset is looking to extend the wall into the waters to close off the port. The French Government, nor the Admiral is willing to offer coin for the job so Bisset has taken it upon himself to impose taxes on the pirates, causing tensions to rise further. Currently all French and Spanish ports are shared between the navies but the soldiers hold no authority in the borrowed ports. Bisset has faced ridicule from his superiors for making such an agreement; a work around is being discussed. Captain Mingo took the ten lended ships from the French along with her fleet and headed for the Bahamas after signing the island over to Bisset. Most of the small islands did not contain heavily walled cities, though forts are present, they are difficult to access due to the shallow waters. For most, there is only one port to access the island.

The Settlement of Nassu (April 1710)
Nassau, New Providence, has received quite a bit of pirate activity in recent years and was becoming a problem for the British. The small islands nearby were easy targets, as were the merchant vessels traveling around the waters. Nassau itself was sparsely populated, making it rather easy for pirates to take up residence. Since the trouble with Tortuga, those able to escape have fled to Nassau and added to the piracy problems in the area; one of these pirates being Blackbeard. The small platoon of Royal Navy soldiers has, for the most part, cooperated with the pirates due to their low numbers.

Dominican Mayor Found Dead (March 1710)
Authorities were sent to the small town of San Cristobal early one morning on reports of runaway slaves. Nearly two months ago, the Mayor had visited Santo Domingo for a slave auction where he purchased a few slaves for his residence back home. Neighbors spotted the slaves climbing over the walls of the Mayor's home late at night and sent out for the authorities, who arrived early the next morning. The Mayor was found in his quarters, dead with several stab wounds and the weapon near by. All of the slaves fled and only a few have been captured thus far. It is uncertain if the murderer is a slave or political rival.

Pirate Riot on Tortuga (March 1710)
Players: Orion-Cestus, Pirates! (Anne)
The young wildboy, Orion, had been covertly dropped onto the Pirate Haven months ago, before it was taken by Priscila, to scout out and retrieve any information about famous pirates and their whereabouts. Though, the Ocean Jewel wasn't able to scoop the boy up with the recent changes to the land so he was forced to find residence at an old campsite toward the edge of the city limits. This campsite was previously one inhabited by a female pirate, Anne, and her old crew. Having caused a bit of a stir with the guards, she chose to retreat there and ended up meeting the boy. The two had met years ago and remembered each other. Over the course of two days, they snuck the weapons cache left at the campsite onto her frigate, which was stationed off shore. While escaping over the large wall encompassing the city, they were spotted by guards but managed to lose them through the woods after Orion started a small fire. Once they boarded their vessel, a small explosion went off in the city, it turned out Orion had set up a distraction within the camp. Pirates and French soldiers in the area blamed one another for the explosion and the pirates began revolting all across the city.

Allied French and Spanish Navies (March 1710)
Players: Aveline, Pirates! (Hercule; Reinier), Priscila
After the stalemate in Port Royal, Priscila sought assistance from the French and Dutch navies to disable the British. Ambassadors from both countries were asked to meet the Spanish captain in Tortuga to discuss negotiations. Dutch Ambassador, Reinier Otten, believed Priscila's idea to be ridiculous and could not look passed her gender - refusing to negotiate military aspects with a female. The French Ambassador, on the other hand, Hercule Bisset chose to ignore her gender and lend an ear to her ideas. She offered to give the French the island of Tortuga and offer some assistance to the French Army's struggles back home for assistance with the British in the Caribbean. Bisset sought the advice of the French Admiral and offered Priscila ten fully crewed ships, slaves, and extra coin to cover some of her expenses. Word is being sent to all French territories that Spanish military vessels are allowed to dock for repairs - French vessels may also dock in Spanish ports during this time. Aveline, despite being a pirate, also runs a legitimate shipping business and was hired by Hercule to transport the cargo to Priscila.

The Battle of Port Royal (Feb 1710)
Players: Kieron (NPC), Priscila
The Spanish Captain sailed into the harbor of Port Royal and assaulted the lingering vessels of the Royal Navy. Kieron's fleet was split across the docks and allowed him to assault the north and south group of Spanish vessels. Though the numbers were closely matched, Spain's vessels were larger and capable of holding more guns. In order to chase off the attackers, Kieron assaulted Priscila's vessels with Greek Fire. The tactic forced the Spanish fleet to retreat and the battle resulted in a number of deaths and injuries among both fleets. Kieron lost six vessels and four were left immobile while Priscila lost seven and one remained immobile and abandoned within the harbor. The event has caused the British to question any of Spanish decent living in Port Royal or those associated with Spaniards. The Army is frequently loitering around Merchant's Square and keeping their eyes on any Spanish merchants.

Players: Aleris (Kraken), Ashe, Issy, Savick, Thomasin (Nerissa)
When docked in port, Captain Ashe and his crew were aboard their vessel while the crew was repairing the damage from the Battle of Tortuga. Suddenly a small sea monster, Savick, crawled into one of the holes in the side of the ship and began assaulting the crew. The beast was terrifying Ashe's men as it assaulted a woman on board, a siren by the name of Nerissa. Firing pistols at the beast didn't stop it from attacking and when it seemed as though things couldn't get worse the Kraken appeared. Surprisingly, the large tentacle beast pulled Savick from the vessel, essentially saving the crew aboard. The legendary sea monster's presence was noticed by the British Army, who fired several shots at the beast. After retrieving Savick, the Kraken vanished into the sea, doing little harm to the vessel or crew.

Players: Ashe, Priscila
The Pirate's Haven was attacked in the dead of night by a Spanish fleet, Captained by Priscila Mingo. Any recognized, wanted men were hanged and those who resisted were shot which forced a number of fearful folks to comply. The brothel and tavern were unharmed and still open for business to the new conquerors. The decomposing bodies of several pirates are displayed high near the docks for passing pirate vessels to see. A warning to pirates who wish to take their island back.

Pirate Assault on Royal Navy (November 1709)
Players: Aoibheann (Parry), Ann, Autry, Feredach
When sailing through the Caribbean on their way to the Bahamas, the crew of the Ocean Jewel was assaulted by cannon fire coming from a pirate vessel. Captain Autry of the Devilfish fired upon the naval vessel and ignited a dangerous battle. Crews swamped the decks of their opponents while the ships continually fired their guns numerous times, assaulting the ship flanks, sails, and crewman with artillery. Commander Parry remained at the helm of his ship and directed the gunners while his first mate, Aoibheann boarded the pirate vessel after noticing that Feredach had been dueling with the pirate captain. The young Cockney officer was in a dangerous situation after taking a blade to the flank and having both wrists sliced with a Marlin spike but Aoibheann was able to defuse the situation after shooting Autry in the thigh, allowing Feredach to escape. Both vessels suffered numerous casualties and injuries and Autry ordered that his vessel be steered away, essentially ended the battle. As the Jewel sailed further toward the Bahamas, they discovered a shipwreck with a young girl floating in the debris, Miss Ann Becker of the English Royal Family. She revealed to Parry that the pirate, Captain Autry, assaulted and sunk her vessel before he attacked the Jewel.
